Yes. All Newlife Hospitals physicians are board certified practitioners. In addition, many have undergone their specialty training in the USA, Australia or Europe. Newlife Hospital’s process for credentialing requires a formal review of each doctor’s qualifications and track record by the Credentials and the Hospital’s Committee. These reviews take place before a doctor is appointed to the medical staff by Newlife Hospitals.

There are a lot of different medical/surgical options for medical tourists. Primarily, medical tourists get elective procedures such as cosmetic surgery, hip and knee replacements, dental procedures, infertility treatments; any procedure that is usually not covered by insurance or has a long waiting time in their home country.

Sri Lanka is a tropical country, with distinct dry and wet seasons with two monsoons. From May to August monsoon brings rain to the island, while the dry season here lasts from December to March. The Maha monsoon occurs through October to January, bringing rain to the North and East, while the dry season begins from May to September. The North and East are comparatively dry. During the period of October and November, rain can occur in some areas of the island. Colombo and the coastal regions have an average temperature of 27°C to 30°C. In Kandy, the average temperature is 20°C, while Nuwara Eliya has a temperate of 16°C. The sea stays at around 28 to 29°C all year.

Climatically speaking, the driest (and the best) seasons in Sri Lanka are from December to March for hill country and from April to September to visit the ancient cities. December through March most tourists visit Sri Lanka, to escape winter. July/August is the time of the Kandy Perahera, the 10-day festival honouring the sacred tooth relic of the Buddha, and also the time for the Kataragama festival in the South. Sri Lanka’s climate means that it is always the right beach season.
